Welcome to your safe space

A LITTLE INSIGHT INTO MY WORK

Preconception, pregnancy and early parenthood are periods of profound adjustment. Sometimes we’ll feel out of our depth and overwhelmed - and that’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out. As a psychologist and mother, I’m passionate about normalising the struggles of this season of life. It’s all about recognising that people might become “stuck” at various points, but believing that our difficulties do not define us.

If you choose to work with me, you will be greeted with warmth and kindness. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental space to talk, hold and support you throughout your perinatal journey. My work is guided by evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness -based Exposure and Response Prevention, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Attachment theory. I work using a trauma informed approach, and my treatments are always tailored to meet your individual needs.

My approach

During our time together, we’ll make sense of your difficulties, understand your patterns and identify where you might get stuck. I will hold space for you to explore, regulate you when needed and gently guide you to develop new skills. We’ll also think about your relationship with your little ones and your partner. As a Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, I’m passionate about promoting security and connection between you and your child. I balance the understanding that you want the best for your child whilst acknowledging that early parenting is a challenging time.

My areas of practice include, low mood, anxiety, OCD, birth trauma, the transition to parenthood, bonding/attachment difficulties and early parenting challenges. I particularly enjoy working with pregnancy, perinatal anxiety, including general anxiety, intrusive thoughts and perinatal OCD. I have a special interest in working with parents who have a history of childhood relational trauma, who wish to explore how childhood experiences have impacted them and the influence this has on parenting their own children.

I have over 12 years clinical experience and have worked across the life span in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient services. However, since completing my doctorate in 2016, I have been working predominantly in private practice. I feel passionate about bringing attachment-focused therapy into the perinatal space, and it’s an honour to be able to support you and guide you through this season of your life.
